Fenix Kauneus

Fenix is one of the largest players in the beauty industry in Finland. To celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary, it was decided to update the brand identity.

Over the years, Fenix’s brand—and consequently, its websites—have undergone several changes, and I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in building them for a long time. Previous updates were implemented by simply modifying and expanding on the existing structure with new features. As a result, the site had accumulated a lot of unnecessary content. Now that it was time for another redesign, we decided to rebuild the entire site from scratch. This allowed us to eliminate all the remnants from the past that were slowing down the website.

The rebuild focused on simplicity. Visitors can easily find what they’re looking for through search, navigation, and internal linking, and the entrepreneur can independently update the site content using a ready-made block library and synchronized blocks.

One of the most important and extensive aspects of this project was the redirection of URL addresses. The site’s domain was changed as part of the revamp, which is widely known to pose a significant risk to search engine visibility. As part of the search engine optimization, the URL structure of the new site also underwent major changes, meaning that practically all old URLs had to be redirected individually to the new ones. I had help from Eero with this, who also assisted with transferring content between the sites. The precise redirection paid off—just a couple of days after launch, the site ranked near the top of search results for the target keywords, and it continues to climb. This is an exceptionally rare result for such a new domain.

The brand look—including the website design and logo—was created by Eveliina Hosionaho from Eanamedia.
