How to Choose a Web Hosting Service
There are numerous service providers available, and they can be compared based on price, customer service, reliability, or reputation. I often use Google to find user experiences, for instance, on discussion forums. While you shouldn’t believe everything you read, you can quickly get a sense of the pros and cons.
You can also ask for experiences with service providers in entrepreneur groups on Facebook, and because the topic is popular, you’ll often find multiple discussions using the search functions. The WPwoofi group has been collecting user favorites since 2020, and you can check out the lists of the most popular web hosting services in Finland there >>
Choosing a Hosting Package
The hosting package should be chosen based on the expected number of visitors and the size of the site. I don’t recommend the smallest packages for business use unless you genuinely expect very few visitors to your site. The size of the package also affects the site’s speed and, consequently, its ranking in search results. It’s also good to check the terms under which the service provider offers, for example, an SSL certificate.
WordPress-based sites require a MySQL database or a package specifically optimized for WordPress to function.
If you already have a website, we can consider together whether there is a need to change the service provider.
My Recommendation
For WordPress-based sites, I particularly recommend the WP.one (Zoner) packages optimized for WordPress. Similar packages with slightly different contents are available from other service providers under various names.
WP.one is a fast, hassle-free, and secure service that includes, among other things, monitored updates and a staging area where you can test changes before they are made live on the site. The package subscriber also gets access to several premium plugins
Sivutaikuri's Tip
I usually recommend Zoner’s services to my clients. With Zoner, you can get a domain, web hosting, and email boxes all at once, along with professional customer service.
