Good to know

Here you will find answers to most questions about cookies and cookie blocking.

When you visit a website, the server of that website stores a cookie file in your browser, which is usually a small text file. The next time you visit the same site, the server recognizes and reads the text file it saved and states that you have visited the site before. The cookie does not reveal your name or address, but it tells the server possibly your geographic location, the type of browser and device you use, and other similar Anonymous information.

The cookie can be session-specific or permanent, in which case it is only removed when the cookies are either deleted from the browser’s memory or destroyed by the server. Websites often also have third-party cookies, a very common example of these are social media like buttons and banner ads on websites.

Cookies can be used to monitor the visitor’s behavior on your site: how long does he stay on your site, which links are clicked, does the visitor turn on his heels as soon as he arrives at the site, does he return, etc. You also get useful information about when your site has the most traffic and which way your site was accessed.

With the help of cookies, a smoother user experience and targeted content can be brought to the website visitor. In practice, the site “remembers” an individual visitor and, for example, a previously started but not yet finished shopping basket can be displayed in the online store, so the customer does not have to click on the products in the basket again.

Targeting advertising and monitoring the effectiveness of the campaign is easy with the help of various tools that use cookies. You can direct your advertising campaign precisely to your target group.

In EU yes, it is starting to be today. And specifically one that works properly. A simple “my fault” notification is not enough. That is, one that states that by using the site you accept cookies.

For a long time, Finland held the position that informing about cookie practices and the visitor’s option to block cookies from their browser settings are sufficient measures for working with cookies.

Since then, the Finnish Data Protection Commissioner has ruled that the visitor must have the option to deny the downloading of marketing and tracking cookies, and their use must require a clear, subsequently verifiable consent.

Yes. Every WordPress site loads at least functional cookies. Cookies can come through add-ons and themes, and the very commonly used Google Fonts is also one source of cookies.

If the site only has functional cookies, then a functional cookie notification is basically not needed. However, I recommend putting some kind of announcement about it.

You can block the use of cookies in your browser settings. Please note, however, that accepting cookies is a condition for the visibility of most websites, i.e. if you block cookies, it may be that a very limited www world opens up to you.

Installing a cookie notification from €159
The starting price includes the installation of the cookie add-on and settings for a monolingual site, as well as the addition of Google’s visitor tracking and Meta pixel to the settings.
